Day 4: Cognitive Goals

 

Welcome to day 4 of our 5-Day Stay-Home Writing Retreat!

Today we'll turn our attention to the C in your SPACE of writing -- cognition -- and its close companions, creativity and challenge.  Can you identify specific types of writing that reliably bring you into a "flow state," when time and space seem to fade away and you become completely absorbed in the moment?  Are there other writing-related tasks that make you feel less like a flowing river than a blocked drain?  Today's goal-setting exercise will prompt you to become more mindful about the eddies and currents of cognitive energy in your writing practice.
