free events

Free events are offered as is, with no guarantee of delivery or recompense in case of cancellation. Newsletter recipients are requested not to forward the Zoom or Vimeo links from free events to others; instead, please encourage your colleagues, friends, and students to subscribe to the free newsletter and to register for individual events.

Intellectual property

Course, retreat, workshop, and coaching materials and content may not be shared with anyone outside the event without explicit permission from Helen Sword.

All workshops, videos, powerpoint presentations, course content, and any other materials created by Helen Sword remain the intellectual property of Helen Sword.

funding

If you are waiting for confirmation of institutional funding for any of our courses, we recommend that you contact us to express your interest and lock in earlybird pricing (if applicable). If your enrollment is self-funded, we may be able to offer you a payment plan or scholarship; please enquire.

writespace membership

WriteSPACE members agree not to share their login information, video links to Library items, or Zoom links to live events. They must respect the privacy of other members and engage at all times in civil and supportive behavior; otherwise, we reserve the right to terminate their membership.

Membership subscriptions are automatically deducted from a member’s account on a monthly or yearly basis depending on the option chosen.

Cancellations: WriteSPACE membership subscriptions may be cancelled at any time without penalty in the My Account section under Account Settings.

Refunds: It is your responsibility to manage your subscription and cancellation. Please contact us providing details and requesting a refund if a subscription payment has been deducted in error after your membership has been cancelled.

Refunds other than in response to an error are at our discretion. Yearly members can contact us within 15 days of subscribing to request a refund.

A 10% charge may be deducted from refunds to cover bank fees and administration costs.

discounts

Catalyst Course discounts for WriteSPACE and WS Studio members are valid only for monthly or annual members who maintain their paid membership status throughout the duration of the course. Non-members who erroneously claim the WriteSPACE discount will be billed for the additional enrollment fee.

Course and retreat discounts cannot be combined. Only one discount may be applied per course or retreat.

WriteSPACE PowerPack discounts will be calculated by deducting any fees that you have already paid for eligible courses, plus one year of WriteSPACE or WS Studio membership (if applicable), from the already discounted PowerPack fee of USD $3500.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Enabling Better Writers Australasia Programme: Residents of Australia and New Zealand who are remunerated in local currency are eligible to apply for the fees of some courses and retreats to be invoiced in AUD or NZD +GST. If accepted, they must remit the ensuing invoice by Direct Bank Transfer and agree to our scholarship conditions (see below). Discounts for residents paying in other non-US currencies may be offered at the discretion of WriteSpace Ltd.

WriteSPACE and WS Studio members facing financial constraints may apply for a full or partial scholarship for any Writing Catalyst course. If accepted, they must agree to our scholarship conditions, which include an assurance that they will participate actively in the course and will recommend it to others.

CANCELLATION POLICY

All cancellation requests for writing retreats, courses, and events must be made in writing and sent via email to contact@helensword.com.

Writing retreats

If you cancel your writing retreat enrollment for any reason, a cancellation fee may be deducted from the price on the following basis per person:

  • More than 6 months from the start: 100% refund

  • Between 6 months and 90 days from the start: 75% refund

  • Between 89 and 32 days from the start: 50% refund

  • Within 31 days of the start: no refund

This cancellation policy applies regardless of the reason for cancellation. You may transfer your booking to another person at any point, at no cost, to avoid cancellation fees; alternatively, it may be possible for us to hold a portion of your booking fee as credit towards a future retreat or course. We strongly recommend that you take out cancellation insurance when you make your booking.

If WriteSpace Ltd cancels a writing retreat, we will make every possible effort to reschedule at a mutually convenient time or, if this proves impossible, to offer similar services of an equal or greater value. You will be invited to choose either:

  • a full credit (toward a future writing retreat or other WriteSPACE event);

  • a full refund; or

  • a partial credit and a partial refund.

Please note that the WriteSpace Ltd is not liable for any related non-refundable costs you may have incurred in preparation for the retreat (e.g. travel or accommodation expenses, which should be covered by your own cancellation insurance).

Online courses

Please contact us providing details if you wish you to withdraw from an online course in which you have already enrolled. As a general rule, we will offer a full refund if the course has not yet begun or, if it has already started, full credit toward a future course of the same or lesser value.

Onsite bookings

For onsite bookings, we require a 20% non-refundable deposit. If the event cannot take place for any reason, Helen Sword will make every effort to work with the organisers to reschedule the event at a mutually agreed time.
