Choose one or more of the prompts below and have fun splashing around! The more you share, listen, and collaborate in your writing practice, the warmer and wider your writing Community will become.

 
 

Connection Building

  1. Join one online writing session or body doubling session this week.

  2. Reach out to one fellow writer with a specific compliment about their recent work.

  3. Start or join a weekly writing check-in with one or two other people.

  4. Share one small writing victory on social media or with a friend.

  5. Attend one writing-related event (online or in-person) this month as a participant, not just an observer.


Community Engagement

  1. Comment thoughtfully on three blog posts or articles in your field this week.

  2. Ask one specific question in an online academic forum or group.

  3. Offer to read a draft or provide feedback for someone in your network.

  4. Share one useful writing resource or tool with your writing community.

  5. Introduce yourself to one new person at the next academic or professional event you attend.


Feedback Practice

  1. Practice giving feedback by commenting constructively on public writing (blogs, social media posts).

  2. Ask three specific questions when someone offers to give you feedback on your work.

  3. Write a brief reflection after receiving feedback, focusing on what was most helpful.

  4. Offer to be a writing accountability partner to someone in your network.

  5. Practice receiving feedback by asking for input on just one paragraph or page.


Online Presence

  1. Update your bio or profile to better reflect your current writing projects and interests.

  2. Share one insight from your research in plain language on social media.

  3. Join one new online community or group related to your writing or research.

  4. Start a conversation by asking a genuine question about something you're curious about.

  5. Create or share content that would be useful to other writers in your field.


Collaboration

  1. Propose one small collaborative project to a colleague or fellow writer.

  2. Organize a casual writing session where you work independently but in the same space as others.

  3. Start a group chat or email thread with other writers working on similar projects.

  4. Attend a writing retreat, workshop, or group event.

  5. Offer your expertise or skills to help someone else with their writing project.
